[HOT] E-2 or EB-5? Media should know better.
It's surprising and disappointing how the media promulgates misleading information about "Investor Visas" as the cure-all for the languishing U.S. economy, and then make statements that lead the opponents of immigration to say that EB-5 Program is selling green cards for money. If you take this viewpoint, you can argue that almost every immigration route is selling green cards: do you really believe that foreign workers who come on labor certification based immigration category stay working at poultry farms for very long time? They probably want to get the heck out of there as soon as they have better jobs.
Why not instead bill the EB-5 Regional Center Program as a program that creates much-needed jobs for American workers (U.S. citizens and permanent residents) in exchange for the opportunity to get permanent green cards in the event the job-creation is proven to USCIS after 2 years? Many foreign entrepreneurs can make more money if they invest their moneys to create businesses in their own countries. Why would they invest in the United States unless they can obtain green cards? And what is wrong with that? The relatively rich investors are not committing crimes in the U.S., and they probably spend a lot more money than average Americans buying houses, cars and putting their children into private schools. In fact, most EB-5 investors are very law-abiding people who worked hard to make their money, and they and their children will contribute to the well-being of the United States.
Canada, Australia and New Zealand recognize this obvious incentive. I always say that when the U.S. is no longer a country where people want to immigrate (or where they want their children to grow up), that's when you know then the U.S. should really start to worry.
Anyway, see below article.

I viewed the video, and it looked to me like they are mixing up E-2 and EB-5 and came up with a new super way to immigrate. :) There is no fast way to U.S. citizenship in EB-5 Program. The bakery owner they are talking about probably initially obtained E-2 visa and then switched to EB-5 later on to get his green card.
