For i51 visa holder, do I need to submit the CPR application after first time entering to the US?
What is the process for i51 visa holder to get the CPR?
Thank you!
It is explained at: www.eb-5center.com/landing_procedure.
After you obtain Immigrant Visa, you land in the U.S. airport and get processed for CPR status. You do not need to submit any type of application, although you will be fingerprinted, etc. at the airport. Your CPR green card should arrive to your designated U.S. address within 1~2 months.
You basically have to go through the "landing" procedure as the first time immigrant. This "landing" procedure is the same for any immigrant visa holders based on any classifications.
Thank you, do you know how USCIS sends a CPR? By registered mail or normal mail?
And is it *guaranteed* that I can change the CPR mailing address while landing? Can that address be outside of the mailand US, like Hawaii? I ask this is because my current CPR mailing address is directed to one of my friend's address, but he wants to move to a new place soon (maybe one month after I landing).
I believe the USCIS sends green cards by registered mail. If the mail cannot be delivered, it will get returned to USCIS and this will cause serious problem and delay with your receiving green cards. Also, you can change your address by informing the USCIS officers, but we do not generally recommend that you change the address (unless you have a special reason) because they may write down the wrong address, etc. which may cause all kinds of problems. In your case, however, I suggest that you make sure the new address is entered for all your family members. I do not believe you can give them an address outside the United States for delivery purpose. Use your attorney of record's address, if there is one.
How does the address modification process go? Should I just tell the officer my new address verbally or need to fill a paper application? Will the address modification process delay my CPR application?
I didn't mean outside the US, just outside the mainland, like the state of Hawaii. (I do not want to live there, just use it to receive CPR)
Hawaii address is OK. You just tell the officer, and they write it down. There is no formal application. However, to be safe, after you leave the airport, you should file a Change of Address form (AR-11) with the USCIS. You can do that via online. Go to www.uscis.gov.
> to be safe, after you leave the airport, you should file a Change of Address form (AR-11)
Did you mean that the officer at the airport will change my address directly to the database, so then USCIS will use the new address to deliver my CPR, you suggest me to submit an AR-11 form is just to double-ensure the address is correct?
They will make the change directly at the airport, but to be safe, submit AR-11 just as an insurance. Also, confirm with the immigration officer that the address change has been noted for all family members.
